West event day in support of Every Month

West Didsbury & Chorlton are staging an initiative at their home game against 1874 Northwich this Saturday in support of Every Month, an organisation that aims to make menstrual products available to all who need them.
On the day, supporters are being encouraged to bring down donations and take part in a fund raising raffle with a range of excellent prizes.
West’s Media spokesman Matthew Britton explained:
“Following the positive feedback as a result of our club's involvement with the On The Ball initiative earlier in the season, we are happy to announce a partnership with Every Month for our fixture against 1874 Northwich.
“Every Month’s focus is to get sanitary items to those who, for whatever reason, are unable to otherwise obtain them. They do so by putting together period packs containing necessary items, and distributing them to food banks.
“Currently, the campaign is run exclusively in Manchester, but will soon be branching out to South London - and from there, hopefully even further afield.
“Every Month believe that menstrual products are essential, and should not be a luxury good - sentiments that we as a club wholeheartedly agree with.
“Over the past few seasons, our fans have been able to provide assistance to local food banks such as Barakah Food Aid, Reach Out to the Community and the Chorlton & West Didsbury Trussell Trust - and we're honoured to be running a similar scheme to try to help fight period poverty in our region, as well as taking steps to attempt to end the stigma around menstruation.
“We had originally planned to run the event over the course of an entire weekend, but with West Women & Development both now away on the Sunday, we'll be running a separate event later in the season - as well as another initiative aimed at assisting our local community in increasingly difficult times.
“For the game against 1874 Northwich we will be working alongside Every Month by collecting donations. Anyone who brings something will receive at least one raffle ticket, through which they could stand to win one of several incredible prizes donated by some inspiring local organisations, including a signed Manchester United shirt and theatre tickets.
“Those who are unable to bring down a material donation will be able to hand over £1.50 - roughly the amount it costs Every Month to make up a period pack to distribute to those in need - for a ticket.
“If you bring down a bumper bag of donations, you'll be given roughly one raffle ticket for every £1.50 worth of goods.
“People will be able to drop off their donation at a gazebo (weather permitting) located near the entrance to the ground. Donations will close around half an hour after kick off, with the draw then made and the winners announced at half time via our notice board.
“Of course, this event is open for both home & away supporters, and we'd love for our friends at 1874 Northwich to join in on what is sure to be a great day.
“Contributions for prizes are still open - if you have anything you'd like to offer, we'd be more than happy to accept”.
