First Division Goalkeeper of the Year 2017/18
Thu 7th June 2018 | League Awards | By Martin Fallon
Ben Morrow is the Reusch First Division Goalkeeper of the Year for 2017/18, with Litherland REMYCA's goalkeeper having an amazing season between the sticks.
The former Widnes, Cammell Laird 1907 and Bootle goalkeeper showed great commitment and consistency as he played in every one of Litherland REMCYA's games this season as they won promotion to the Premier Division. Ben played 52 times in total with Litherland winning 35, drawing 8 and losing 9 of the games he played in. Only one goalkeeper in the First Division played in more games than this.
In the 52 games that he played, Ben conceded a measly 53 goals, a ratio of just over one goal a game, and kept 25 clean sheets, which is by far the highest of any First Division goalkeeper by some distance.
Looking at league games only, Ben played in all 42 games for Litherland, in which he conceded just 39 games, the only goalkeeper in both divisions to have a goals conceded ration of less than a goal a game. In league games, he kept clean sheets in more than half of Litherland's games, 22 in total, which again is the most of any First Division goalkeeper.
