Promotion confirmed for Litherland REMYCA

Litherland REMYCA will be playing Premier Division football for the first time next season, after clinching promotion without kicking a ball on Thursday night.
Prestwich Heys needed to win at Bacup Borough to keep up their hopes of pipping REMYCA for an automatic promotion place, but a 2-0 defeat for Heys meant that Remy's promotion was confirmed with two games to spare.
They will now take their place in the Premier Division, just three seasons after joining the league.
Chairman Don Rimmer said: "It’s been a tough and demanding campaign but the initial emotions are ecstasy, satisfaction and genuine relief that we have got the job done.
"Following the disappointment last season of play off final defeat, our target has always been automatic promotion and it’s hats off to players, management, supporters and all who have worked behind the scenes to achieve this success.
"The key has been consistency, being able to grind out results and put runs of results together and stay ahead of the chasing teams.
"This season the promoted teams will register a record number of points yet it still came down to final games, which reflects how tight the top end of the league has been.
"We will keep our feet on the ground and continue to work hard as a club whilst looking forward with anticipation to competing at the next level".
