Managerial appointments at Eccleshall

After the recent management resignations at Pershall Park, Eccleshall have named a new interim management team.

Following a recent committee meeting, it was decided that Craig Bould and Liam Kelly would take charge of team affairs as joint managers for the immediate future, starting at AFC Blackpool on Saturday.

Craig is a former Eccleshall goalkeeper with a number of years playing experience in the North West Counties League and managed the club’s second team earlier this season. He is currently on the club committee and is helping with this season’s Under 17s team.

Liam is a Level 2 coach and has managerial experience, but not at this level. However, he has seen enough of the league to know what is required. He also has an advantage in that he knows most of our current first team players and a knowledge of the local football scene.

They will also be bringing Adam Whitmore on board as an additional coach, who will be primarily helping out with training. The new management partnership met with the players on Tuesday evening and put them through a good training session in preparation for Saturday’s match.

Club secretary, Jim Tunney, said: “After the recent upheaval, the club has had many offers of help both through phone calls and via our website to tide us over in the immediate term. Understandably, we have also had expressions of interest in the permanent post.

“We are grateful to everyone who got in touch. As previously stated, we would be appointing interim management to give us time to assess our options.

“In this respect, Craig and Liam are a good fit in that Craig knows both the club and the league and Liam, although new to the club, knows our current players.

“There are a number of tough games to come, starting with Saturday’s trip to Blackpool, but they are both looking forward to the challenge. As to the players, all indications are that they are committed to the cause”.
