West Host Supporters Launch Event
Tue 8th August 2017 | West Didsbury & Chorlton | By Ian Templeman
West Didsbury & Chorlton have announced the launch of a unique commemoration of last season's campaign.
With 2016/17 being a record breaking season both on and off the pitch, in a collaboration between the WDCFC Supporters' Club and artist Lew Currie, a limited edition 2016/17 season yearbook has been produced.
Specially designed and illustrated by Lew - currently finishing an MA Illustration course at Manchester Metropolitan University - the publication features all of the most important statistics that defined the season, as well as writing from contributors Barca Jim, Peter Jones, Paul Musco, and Matthew Britton, and an exclusive interview with Steve Settle.
Supporters' Club spokesman Matthew Britton said: "Since Lew got involved with the club last year, he's been an unbelievable asset.
"The way fans reacted to his Penfold Pincher strip spoke volumes - within the space of a few weeks he's created a character that is a part of the club's folklore.
"When he came to myself and the club about creating a season yearbook, we immediately said yes - but never dreamed it would be this ambitious. It truly is a thing of beauty - I'm proud to have been involved".
Comprising 50 pages, the yearbook is being produced in a limited run of 50 and is being sold for £5, with all profits going towards the WDCFC Supporters' Club fund, and will released on August 12th 2017.
To celebrate the release of the book - and to welcome in a new campaign - the club will be holding a launch event at Brookburn Road on the eve of the new season.
From 7pm on Friday 11th August, the day before West play their opening league fixture, there will be an exhibition of prints of Lew's Penfold Pincher strip in the changing rooms, and the yearbook itself, tote bags and other merchandise will be on sale.
There will also be DJ sets throughout the evening, with the bar open to all. See the Facebook event by clicking here.
