Town welcome St Helens Mind as Official Charity Partner

St Helens Town have announced that St Helens Mind will be their official charity partner for the 2017-18 season.
St. Helens Mind is an independent local charity supporting people aged 18+ who are isolated and lonely due to mental health difficulties.
The charity helps people living in St Helens regardless of their cultural, religious and lifestyle needs and the services are non-judgemental and offer opportunities to develop self-esteem and confidence by encouraging and supporting involvement in community life.
They do this by providing a befriending service, social groups and activities, volunteering opportunities and signposting to other services. They also promote meant health awareness and resilience as well as challenging stigma.
In a significant new venture, its logo will adorn the Town squad tracksuits and polo shirts in the coming season.
The charity will also become executive sponsor of Town’s award winning match day programme ‘Talk of the Town’, which will see them feature prominently throughout the printed and on-line versions with a range of editorial content and event based advertisements.
Town Business Development and Commercial Manager Simon Kenyon said: ‘We are delighted to welcome St Helens Mind on board and thank them for their support. We look forward to developing a fruitful and long term partnership between our two teams.
‘We have provided a number of season passes for use by the charity and look forward to welcoming service users, staff and volunteers to Ruskin Sports Village throughout the 2017-18 season. We have also agreed to support the charity’s fundraising activities over the next year.’
He added, ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to work with a local charity during our first year back in St Helens.’
St Helens Mind Vice-Chair Ste Lingard said, ‘We are very pleased to be working with Town in the season they return to the Borough. It is a terrific community club run by a small, hard-working team – we feel we have a lot in common.’
He added, ‘The partnership will help us to support many of our service users to go out into social settings, and will help us talk about mental health issues with many new people. We look forward to working together very closely in the season ahead.’
