Presentation to Carl Grimshaw
Mon 31st July 2017 | Charnock Richard | By Ian Templeman
Charnock Richard's Carl Grimshaw was presented with the Hallmark Security League Division One leading goalscorers award for season 2016-17 on Saturday, prior to the club's friendly match with Stockport Town at Mossie Park.
For a number of years Carl has been one of the most prolific marksmen in North West non-league football, and Charnock Richard Secretary Dave Rowland paid tribute to his efforts for the club.
“Carl netted an amazing 45 goals in all competitions for his beloved Charnock Richard last term, a very impressive achievement with it being the club’s first ever season at Step 6 in the National League System.
“He has been the club's leading marksman for many seasons past, and has scored a grand total of 335 goals in 283 starts in all competitions for the club after joining Charnock Richard from Eagley in 2009-10, a remarkable feat.
“His record with the Mossie Park outfit may never be surpassed.
“The word legend is an oft overused term in football circles these days but in Carl’s case, the description is more than appropriate.
Carl will be the club captain for the forthcoming season. He is a great character and very popular with the Charnock faithful as can be imagined. Just to emphasise his value to the Villagers, Carl ran in a hat-trick against a very plucky Stockport Town on Saturday, after being presented with the award”.
