1874 Northwich Extreme Ironing Challenge

Mon 19th June 2017 | 1874 Northwich
By Ian Templeman

1874 Northwich's Community team are planning an Extreme Ironing Challenge to both promote the club's name and support their charity partner St Luke’s (Cheshire ) Hospice.

The event has been planned by supporters to kick of a new season of support for the Hospice, which serves patients around the Mid-Cheshire area.

A unique 1874 Northwich Ironing Board will make its public debut at the Northwich Carnival on 1st July, probably the first time ever that an Ironing Board has participated in the Carnival parade.

1874 supporter Maggie Coats will then be carrying it during the St Luke’s Midnight Walk later on the same day, over a course of 13 miles.

Appearances at 1874's pre season warm up games will follow as the board makes its way around the North West, including on Saturday 15th July a trip to Knutsford, by bicycle.

Following appearances at the likes of Sandbach, Radcliffe and New Mills, the board reaches new heights following the home game against Glossop.

On Sunday 30th July, supporters from 1874 will be climbing Mount Snowdon, complete with ironing board, when upon reaching the summit supporters will proudly iron an 1874 Northwich FC shirt.
