Comedian John Bishop, who played in midfield for Runcorn AFC in the 1980s, was back in a Linnets shirt this morning at the unveiling of a blue plaque to commemorate his many and varied achievements in the entertainment world and also for his charity work.
The blue plaque is the latest to be erected by Runcorn Historical Society and is placed at Ormiston Bolingbrook Academy, which is on the site of Brookvale High where John went to school.
John did a 30-minute interview with Ste Bignall, pictured left in the photo below, for the Linnets podcast, the pair being joined for the forthcoming broadcast by Ste's brother Mike Bignall (a Runcorn Linnets Trust Board member, right) and Linnets fan Stuart Allen, the historical society's blue plaque co-ordinator.
As well as the personalised Linnets non-playing third shirt, featuring the name of main club sponsor, Millbank and provided by Runcorn Linnets kit partner Macron, John was presented with some Runcorn Linnets souvenirs.
