Paul's charity run

Prestwich Heys striker Paul Tierney is planning to run the Manchester 10k in May to raise money for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Charity.

The Heys striker is taking part in the event to raise money for the charity, which offers support for young and old undergoing treatment at six hospitals in Manchester, after seeing their work when his daughter was seriously ill.

Paul said:  "In January 2015 my daughter Elle was diagnosed with Stage 4 mature B Cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. For a large part of that year we lived on Ward 84 at Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital whilst Elle received her treatment.

"It was the worst time of all of our lives.

“We want to show our appreciation to the charities who have helped us along the way and thought it was best if we begin with the people who saved her life. This is why I will be running the 10km on the 28th May 2017.

“I will not just turn up on the day and hope for the best. I will be training hard for this from now so if any wants to join me competing, please feel free.

“Finally, please if you have anything spare to donate then any small amount would be greatly appreciated. The money goes directly to Ward 84 to help the other children like Elle going through similar courses of gruelling treatment.”

Paul has set up a fundraising page where he can be sponsored, which can be found by clicking here.
