We regret to announce that the former Widnes manager Steve Hill passed away this morning.
Steve was manager when the club moved from the West Cheshire League to the North West Counties League in the summer of 2013, and remained in charge of first team affairs until the end of last season.
A statement on the Widnes club website said:
Widnes Football Club would like to extend its deepest condolences to Steve's family and friends. Steve will always have a place of honour in our history books for his achievements while at the helm.
Steve was appointed manager in September 2012 and was instrumental in the Club’s promotion from the West Cheshire League to the North West Counties Football League.
Steve successfully stabilised the Club following promotion, and guided his team to three consecutive mid-table finishes.
He will be fondly remembered by players and volunteers alike who had the pleasure of working with him.
The Club would like to extend its condolences to Steve’s wife Collette and his children Stephen Jnr, Joanne, Sammie, Emily and Georgia at this very sad time.
