Alport announce new ground development plans

Whitchurch Alport have announced an ambitious fund raising plan for the upgrading of the changing rooms and shower facilities at Yockings Park.

The club has been hard at work since joining the league in summer 2015, and with new covered terracing now running the entire length of the far touchline and new seats installed in the main stand.

The club committee have now turned their attention to the changing rooms, and are asking local businesses and supporters alike to pitch in, and at the same time carve their names into Alport history.

The plan is that by next summer, Alport hope to have raised sufficient donations to allow further funding from the FA, that should see new changing rooms operational by the 2017-18 season.

Committee member Neil Spencer is the man behind the initiative and said: “Whitchurch Alport is becoming more and more of a community club and we have devised a way that local people and businesses can become part of the football club’s history forever.

“For a minimum donation of £40, the name of any individual or business will go onto a donations plaque, which will be clearly visible in a prominent position in the clubhouse for all time. In the meantime, we already have the names of the first sponsors to hand which we are displaying on a makeshift board.

“These will then be transferred onto the plaque once the project is completed, hopefully in time for the new season.”

Alport are looking to raise around £40,000 to make the dream become reality and invite donations from any interested parties. The club will hand over a form for completion to be returned with full payment and the preferred name to be displayed on the plaque.
