Barnton hit fund raising target

Wed 14th December 2016 | Barnton
By Ian Templeman

Barnton have announced that they have reached their target of raising £1000 to support the work carried out by staff at Ward 77 of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

As reported a few weeks ago, Ward 77 has been adopted by the Club as they care for Barnton defender Dan Meadowcroft's daughter Evie, who needs the specialist care of the staff at the hospital.

Evie has a condition known as Extreme Short Bowel Syndrome, a disorder caused by a lack of functional small intestine, and is a patient at the hospital.

The club has organised a number of collections and fund raising schemes over the past few weeks, and hit their target of £1000 yesterday.

Barnton Secretary Andy Williams said:

“We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has donated, and also to the team of people selling raffle tickets at the recent home games to help swell the charity pot.

“Manager Steve Lloyd and a number of the lads will now be heading to the Ward on the 22nd December to hand over a cheque, and will also be delivering Barnton FC teddy bears to the sick children who will be on the ward during the festive period".
