West host Christmas Miracle event on Saturday
Wed 7th December 2016 | West Didsbury & Chorlton | By Rob McKay
For the second year in succession, West Didsbury & Chorlton are hosting their annual ‘Christmas Miracle’ event, when they host Winsford United on Saturday.
The Christmas Miracle is run by West supporters Pete Jones and Matt Britton, as a way to encourage supporters to bring down friends or family who may never have been to a game before, and also acts as a thank you to existing supporters who’ve got behind the club this year.
Last year, a bumper crowd were invited to have a free drink courtesy of sponsor Digital Media Team and were treated to a rousing half time performance from the Northern Quarter Choir to help raise money for Christie Hospital in Manchester.
As one of the most exciting and successful years in West's 108 year history comes to a close, West, this year in conjunction with Musco Tours, a tour management and production company run by long time West supporter Paul Musco, are inviting supporters down to Brookburn Road to enjoy a free festive drink as they seek donations for Chorlton and Didsbury Food Bank.
Run by the Trussell Trust, Chorlton & Didsbury foodbank opened in 2014, and provided over 1,000 emergency food supplies last year alone. More information can be found on their website by clicking here.
Thanks to the generosity of Musco Tours, West will be providing a free drink (beer, wine, cider, soft or hot drink) to anyone who donates to the club’s local food bank. Here's the list of items specifically requested by the Trussell Trust - one item will be enough for a free drink voucher (one per person), but if anyone attending could bring as much as they can afford, it would be hugely appreciated.
Long Life fruit Juice
Sparkling soft drinks
For anyone attending who is unable to bring anything down to the club, cash donations will also be accepted with all contributions going to the Chorlton & Didsbury food bank.
After the match junior supporters are invited to stay in the clubhouse as Manager Steve Settle and the West players will be taking part in a question and answer session.
West Chairman Glyn Meacher said: “Our supporters desire to get involved with our football club continues to amaze us and were thankful for their continued and growing support.
“We’ve always had a vision of ourselves to be a community club and it’s brilliant that after a successful 2016 that we can help give something back to both our supporters and our community. The fact that it’s a supporter led initiative just reinforces the notion of what incredible support we have.”
Admission is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and FREE for under12s accompanied by an adult. For the latest information about Saturday’s event go to Facebook and LIKE the event HERE.
