Chadderton v Daisy Hill

Chadderton's got their season under way on Saturday and despite a 1-3 home defeat to League newcomers, City of Liverpool FC, there was still much to smile about at the club.

Local celebrity fan, World Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla headed to Andrew Street to lend support to the club and their new Stadium Sponsor Stadium sponsorship agreement with ARK Fleetech Ltd, meaning that the ground will now be known as the ARK Fleetch Stadium.  Chadderton FC has had an excellent working relationship with Heath Ravey and his family over a number of years and they are proud to be associated with their company and appreciate their continued support of our Football Club.  Indeed, Heath has been involved in Chadderton FC for some years now. Starting as youth team coach, then working with the reserve and development squad.

With a new sponsorship deal in place with an established local company and friends of the club, the sun shining and a new look team on the park there was cause for strong optimism from Club Chairman Bob Sopel who said of the day;

"We were delighted to have Anthony down and he looks the part in the new kit as well.  Despite being a well known Manchester United fan he is a fan of this, his local club and came down with Heath Ravey & Alan Ravey to celebrate our tie-in with the company and our Stadium Sponsorship.

It was a good day for us apart from the result, we had the biggest gate in the league on the day and everyone had a good time in the sunshine.  Anthony was great, he was patient and made sure that everyone who wanted to have a chat or a pic got one and he saw the improvements that we are doing at the ground. We know he enjoyed his day with us as did fans of both teams, many of whom were surprised to see a World Boxing Champion at the club.

It was a special day all round with opponents City of Liverpool FC playing their first game in the league, they played some good football actually and they will do well if they can maintain that pace throughout the season, nothing seemed to daunt them.  They brought a decent away support with them and they certainly enjoyed their day, we welcomed them and had some good banter.

For us, on the park we have Mark Howard in as Manager and he has been working with the players for the last six weeks or so and we have a number of new faces in, he is constantly looking to strengthen and build and we will get there.  This is one of those transition seasons that people talk about but in reality we will do ok, we are already playing better in my opinion than last year and if we can keep the rate of improvement going we won't be too far off the business end of the table come the end of the season.

Off the park, we are celebrating signing a 35 year lease leading to planning ground developments, we have worked on a superb 40x40m warm up area which will take some of the strain off the pitch.  We also have plans to develop a large wasteland behind the pitch as well as working on changing the clubs constitution, so there is lots of good stuff going on here."
