Forthcoming Events At Ashton Town

Ashton Town have announced they will be restarting "Dementia friendly" events at the club this week.
From Monday 4th July weekly open house coffee mornings will take place at the club every Monday from 12 - 2pm.
Town Chairman Mark Hayesd explained: "Brews, biscuits and entry are completely free, and the events are aimed for people living with dementia, but also for our elder generation to provide a safe and friendly environment where they can chat and reminisce, and even try out our new club allotments.
"I am very proud to be able to host such events. We have now done two specific Dementia events, once hosting over 40 from Mossley Hill Hospital to watch a game, and the WW1 Tea Dance that was a great success just a couple of weeks ago.
"Since opening our doors as a Dementia Friendly Cafe we have learnt lots regarding people's individual needs. There are many of our older generation out there not socialising as they either don't have anywhere to go, or they simply don't have the confidence to do anything.
"We recently had a couple come along who hadn't been out together socially for years. After spending time with them we learnt that they loved to dance in the past and so we made it a priority to host something so that they could do so. That's where the idea of the Tea Dance came about, they attended and they absolutely loved it.
"In addition, on Friday 29th July between 12 - 2pm we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup with a guest speaker from the FA, and Friday 12th August between 7 - 11pm we host a 1920's Gatzby's night with a live singer. Entry is free, however booking is essential via the club in person, or via 07472 989377".
